FAQs
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a patient-focused healthcare model that removes the middlemen—insurance companies and corporate restrictions—so you get better access to your doctor, longer appointments, and transparent pricing.
That means treating the patient when they need it, never rushing through appointments, and being proactive in creating treatment plans.
For a low, flat monthly fee, you get unlimited office visits with no copays, direct access to your doctor by cell phone, text, email, or video chat, flexible appointment times, extended, relaxed office visits, access to discounts on labs, pathology, and imaging, all without the need for insurance. We remove the intrusiveness of health insurance and deliver affordable and personal care, unparalleled by any other model.
Clarity Direct Care is the first Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice in Wichita Falls, TX, founded by Dr. Kissi Rosabel Blackwell. This practice was built to provide accessible, affordable, and personalized care without insurance hassles.
Unlike traditional clinics where doctors are forced to see dozens of patients a day, Clarity Direct Care offers longer appointments, same-day or next-day visits for urgent needs, and direct communication with your doctor.
Traditional healthcare often feels rushed, impersonal, and insurance-driven. Patients wait weeks for an appointment only to spend a few minutes with a doctor who barely has time to address their concerns.
Clarity Direct Care eliminates the red tape so that your doctor can focus entirely on you. Patients receive longer visits, same-day or next-day appointments for urgent needs, and direct communication with their physician via text, call, or video. There are no copays, no hidden fees, and no insurance barriers dictating what kind of care you receive.
No, and happily so. By removing insurance from the equation, there are no copays, no billing delays, and no insurance-mandated restrictions that interfere with patient care. This also allows Clarity Direct Care to offer access to discounted pricing on lab tests, imaging, pathology, and medications, often at significantly lower rates than traditional insurance pricing. Patients save money while receiving high-quality, unrestricted care.
It’s recommended but not required. While Clarity Direct Care covers all your primary care needs, insurance is still recommended for hospital visits, specialist care, surgeries, and emergency situations. Many patients find they can save money by switching to a high-deductible, lower-premium insurance plan or healthshare plan and pairing it with a Clarity Direct Care membership.
In providing care with unprecedented access, we seek to prevent or reduce hospitalizations and specialty referrals. In instances where those types of care are required, we will work with your hospitalist during your hospital stay as well as work closely with any specialist when such care is needed. In some cases, depending on the level of care and the expertise required, we may rely on those specialized caregivers to manage your treatment. We do encourage you to carry insurance for these kinds of needs, as we are not considered an insurance plan.
Yes. Medicare patients can become members of Clarity Direct Care by signing a biennial waiver stating that neither the patient nor the doctor will bill Medicare for services provided at Clarity Direct Care.
However, Medicare will still cover lab tests, imaging, medications, or hospital stays ordered by our office. Patients with Medicare can enjoy the benefits of Direct Primary Care while still utilizing their Medicare coverage for specialized services.
Yes! Unfortunately, most medical care has become very reactionary, something we use as a reaction to having symptoms or being sick. While we always provide sick care for our patients, it is also important to be proactive and create plans for staying healthy. Certainly, everyone benefits from healthcare tailored to them.
The traditional healthcare model encourages you NOT to seek care until you are just about dying, but with Direct Primary Care, you can seek care at any time, preferably sooner rather than later, and we can actually prevent things from happening instead of waiting for them to happen. There is nothing standing in the way of calling us, seeing us the same day or next day, or simply asking a quick question by text. Over time, we build a comprehensive knowledge of you and your health, and if you do end up needing more frequent medical attention, we know all about your needs and how to treat you best, which cannot be said for any other healthcare model.
Patients have direct access to their doctor, even when they are out of town. Whether traveling for business or vacation, Dr. Blackwell can provide medical advice by phone or video, call in prescriptions to a local pharmacy, and guide patients to the best care options available nearby.
Membership includes after-hours access for urgent medical concerns. Instead of waiting in a crowded emergency room or urgent care center, patients can reach Dr. Blackwell directly for medical advice by phone, text, or video.
For emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, or serious injuries, patients should always call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room
